About
My name is Matt Yi. I've experienced various struggles including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance abuse, addictions, religious trauma and other difficult trials. However, I was able to change, heal, and grow because many people have helped me THROUGH those challenging seasons. This is how I realized my passion - to help others through their difficult times.

I grew up in Philadelphia (Go Birds!) and then attended Oberlin College (B.A., Religion). After working several years in the tech industry, I went to graduate school at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.Div). I have lived in Cleveland, Chicago, NYC, and now I currently live in the suburbs of Washington D.C.

The majority of my professional career has been as a Christian pastor. After enduring some painful experiences from a few church leaders, I knew I needed to take a break from working in a church. But because of these difficult seasons in the church, I have grown a special heart for two groups of people - those who have left the church and are deconstructing faith/spirituality, as well as, those who are working in a church context.

One powerful tool that has changed my life is the Enneagram. When I first heard about it, I was skeptical and thought it was like any other personality quiz. However, as seasoned guides walked me through it, I was able to better understand myself and others. It has helped me to accept my weaknesses, while turning my strengths into superpowers. This self-awareness has given me the tools and understanding to move forward in life and I hope to do this for others.
